The AHA sadly notes the passing of Dr James Jupp AM, an eminent scholar of immigration, politics and religion, with many publications on Britain, Sri Lanka and Australia. The AHA sends its condolences to his family. Dr Jupp (1932-2022) migrated to Australia in 1956 and quickly began publishing on Australian politics and migration. He made an outstanding contribution in developing the study of immigration and the politics of multiculturalism in Australia, including the authoritative The Australian People. Throughout his career, Dr Jupp was an advocate for the equitable treatment of Australia’s migrant communities in both his academic and policy work.
