Inaugural AHA Lifetime Achievement Awards 2022

Each year the Australian Historical Association will honour one or more eminent practitioners of history with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is in recognition of a career that has made a significant, positive contribution to the field of history in Australia. Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award have demonstrated both excellence in history and generosity in service. Congratulations to the inaugural recipients:

Joy Damousi: For distinguished contributions to historical scholarship, mentoring, journal editing, and academic leadership in history and the humanities more generally, with special reference to service with the Australian Historical Association in various roles including President.

John Maynard: For distinguished contributions to historical scholarship, mentoring, journal editing, and academic leadership in history and his commitment to Indigenous education.

Penny Russell: For distinguished contributions to historical scholarship, mentoring, journal editing, and academic leadership in history and women’s studies.

Lyndall Ryan: For distinguished contributions to Australian history, especially Aboriginal history, including the ground-breaking Colonial Frontier Massacres in Australia, 1788-1930 map.
