Congratulations to Margaret Cook, winner of Griffith University’s 2024 Pro Vice Chancellor (Science) Excellence in Research Impact Award

Congratulations to Margaret Cook, winner of Griffith University’s 2024 Pro Vice Chancellor (Science) Excellence in Research Impact Award! This accolade recognises the way Margaret used her book, A River with a City Problem, ‘to engage with academics, stakeholder professions, industry, and communities to reconceptualise how we have managed and understood floods historically’. As the citation records, Margaret’s work ‘highlights the current cultural impediments and lack of community awareness that retard proactive flood polices and actions, while offering practical solutions to how we can make communities safer and more climate resilient in the future’. Margaret hopes that this scholarship will ‘influence future decisions (hopefully for the better)’. Congratulations, Margaret!
