Congratulations to Sarah Luke on the publication of Marion and the Forty Thieves (NLA Publishing). This creative non-fiction novel for middle-grade readers is underpinned by research into the archives of NSW’s nineteenth-century Nautical School Ships Vernon and Sobraon, and is illustrated with archival photographs. The novel follows Marion Neitenstein, whose middle-class life is contrasted with Sydney slum life and wharf culture. Sarah is running creative writing workshops at the NLA during the school holidays.
