Newcastle, NSW – At the 36th annual Australian Historical Association Conference in Newcastle (3-7 July 2017), a group of early career researchers offered advice to post-graduates hoping to find academic jobs upon completion of their degrees. Though the academic market can be daunting, the tone of the panel was hopeful as panellists reflected on their own experiences and stressed the highly individualised nature of the process. There is no one ‘correct’ path to an academic job.
