The aim of the Duncan Tanner Essay Prize is to encourage a high standard of scholarship amongst postgraduate research students in Britain and abroad. The competition is open to anyone currently registered for a higher research degree, or who completed one no earlier than October 2019. The essay can be on any topic of British History since 1900, provided that it fulfils the specified requirements. The prize consists of publication of the winning essay in Twentieth Century British History, £500 worth of OUP books, and one year’s free subscription to Twentieth Century British History. Submissions are due 2 November 2020.
