2018 Australia Day Honours

The AHA offers its warm congratulations to the historians recognised with awards in the 2018 Australia Day Honours.

Long time AHA member and former president Professor Marilyn Lake was awarded an AO for distinguished service to higher education as an academic, researcher, and author across a range of historical issues, and recognised for her contributions to historical organisations. It is a richly deserved award for an inspirational scholar.

Professor Janet McCalman was awarded an AC for eminent service to education as a leading scholar in social history, contributor to multi-disciplinary curriculum development, and for her role in broadly promoting history to the wider community.

The late Dr Hugh Anderson was posthumously awarded an AM for his significant service to Australian folklore as an historian and author, and his contribution to the Victorian community through historical societies.

The AHA is delighted to see members of the historical community receive such recognition.
