Congratulations to Cam Coventry and Jordy Silverstein, winners of the 2023 John Barrett Award (InASA). The John Barrett Award for Australian Studies is awarded annually to an article published in the Journal of Australian Studies that demonstrates outstanding achievement across several criteria. Cam received the Postgraduate prize for his engaging article “Sedimentary Layers: Bob Hawke’s Beer World Record and Ocker Chic”, JAS 47, no. 3 (2023): 478–96. Jordy received the Open Category prize for the innovative article “Files, Families and the Nation: An Archival History, Perhaps”, JAS 47, no. 4 (2023): 721–35, which the judges described as ‘a model for autoethnographic historical scholarship’. Congratulations also to Danielle Carney Flakelar and Emily O’Gorman, whose article “Wayilwan Women Caring for Country: Dynamic Knowledges, Decolonising Historical Methodologies, and Colonial Explorer Journals”, JAS 47, no. 1 (2023): 160–80, was highly commended.
