Congratulations to Brad Underhill, Helen Gardner, Jon Ritchie and Keimelo Gima on the publication of their special issue of Australian Historical Studies on ‘Wan Solwara: New Histories of Australia and Papua New Guinea’. ‘Wan Solwara’ (one saltwater) brings together Papua New Guinean and Australian scholars to consider the place of PNG in Australian history and Australia in PNG history. In addition to a survey article by Gardner, Ritchie and Underhill on the absence of Papua New Guinea from Australian history following independence in 1975, the special issue includes contributions from AHA members Michael Webb and Steven Gagau, Jon Piccini and Anna Kent. The issue is dedicated to journalist, author and deep friend of Papua New Guinea, Sean Dorney, whose extended essay ‘The Embarrassed Colonialist’, inspired many of the contributions. Congratulations to the editors and authors!
